Jane Commane - Editor and Director of Nine Arches Press

Jane Commane has been the editor of Nine Arches Press since its founding in 2008 and its director since 2016.
Jane commissions and edits all Nine Arches Press publications, works closely with poets to mentor and support their development, and organises and facilitates regular workshops and live events. She is also responsible the planning, management, organisational development, finance and funding of Nine Arches Press. Jane is co-editor (with Matt Merritt and Maria Taylor) of Under the Radar magazine
Jane was born in Coventry and lives and works in Warwickshire. As well as working for Nine Arches Press, she is a poet and author of a poetry collection Assembly Lines (Bloodaxe Books, 2018) as well as co-author, with Jo Bell, of How to be a Poet, a creative writing handbook. Jane was awarded a Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship in 2017-18.

Angela Hicken - Marketing and Operations Manager
Angela Hicken has been with Nine Arches Press since November 2018 and is responsible for delivering marketing, sales and promotions and supporting the day-to-day operations of the press. Angela creates bespoke marketing and publicity plans for each title working directly with the poet. She also maintains our online resources and supports the delivery of live events.
Angela was Portsmouth’s Reader Development Librarian before joining Hampshire County Council in 2006 as a Literature Development Officer, working across libraries, arts centres and less traditional venues to devise and manage literature events and local writer development opportunities. She worked closely with the Reading Agency on its Reading Partners consortium. Angela was an Advisor to the Winchester Poetry Festival Board from its inception until 2018 when she made the move to the Midlands.
